One of the most beloved sneakers has a new member of the family, the adidas Originals NMD_R2. Triggering the NMD feeling of "PAST EMPOWERS FUTURE", we built an interactive 3D animation of Amsterdam to let people generate an unlimited number of generic cityscapes in real time through WebSockets.
In April 2017 adidas launched the new NMD_R2. Driven by a desire to experience. The NMD is inspired by the past but always looking to the future. When constantly on the move, objects bring meaning to a high-paced life.
Amsterdam’s unique Solebox store was the location of choice for a midnight release of the 16 new adidas NMD styles. As part of the digital urban exploration, we built a 3D animation, to let people interact with the brand new NMD in a generic Amsterdam surrounding. Using WebSocket technology, people could generate a new cityscape of Amsterdam, while exploring the new adidas NMD styles. Connected with their smartphones, people generated their own unique Amsterdam cityscape and shared it on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
