De Issuemakers is a Dutch communications, media consultancy and public affairs firm based in Amstelveen. It was founded in 2007 by two sisters, Mayke and Sybrig van Keep, who merged their two companies respectively focused on public relations and public affairs. In the past decade De Issuemakers has built up a varied portfolio of clients, ranging from large (international) corporates to foundations focusing on societal issues. In serving these clients, De Issuemakers uses a wide range of disciplines within public relations, public affairs, stakeholder management and (corporate) communication. Our work method consists of using a lean team of multi-disciplined consultants and adding the outside expertise of associate partners whenever a project requires us to do so. This approach enables us to serve a wide range of clients from various markets and building up a large network of sectoral experts.  From genetically manipulated food to dealing with fake news. From the plastic soup in the world seas to TTIP and CETA. Probably every societally engaged citizen has an opinion about these themes. Thereby, these are excellent examples of issues : subjects that affect, connect and call for action. Organizations often see these societal issues as a threat, as something to ignore, and only respond to by means of ‘last resort’. De Issuemakers thinks this approach is outdated. After all, we live in a world in which one simple tweet can lead to a sudden media storm . Shutting your eyes to current societal issues is arguably the fastest way to damaging your organization’s reputation. Therefore, De Issuemakers believes in a proactive attitude. Issues are seen as opportunities to further sharpen your organization profile, rather than as threats or risks. Our approach contains multiple disciplines within public affairs, public relations and (corporate) communication. We love to work for organizations that have or aim to have societal impact.
